About Us

Dedicated to the women of the Valley...one woman at a time.

The Aapa Jaan Shanta Kaul Memorial Trust is registered as a Charitable Trust. Our Trustees are women leaders in corporate India and the management of the Trust's charitable activities is overseen by them. The executive team comprises a team of women from Aapa Jaan Shanta Kaul's family. They are spearheaded by two of her daughters, Neerja and Sanjala.

Pran Kishore

Chief Patron

Padma Shree Pran Kishore is the husband of Late Shanta Kaul and an artist and writer of great renown.

 

Pran Kishore is best known as the creator of the 1991 Doordarshan television serial Gul Gulshan Gulfaam. He is also a recipient of the Silver Peacock award for the feature film Maanzirath. He began his career as a broadcaster and producer for Radio Kashmir. He has played a pivotal role in major cultural activities in the Kashmir Valley over the past five decades, making a unique and lasting contribution to it's art and culture. He has also authored several books, TV serials and movies.

 

In 2018, he was honoured with the Padma Shree, one of India’s highest civilian awards. He currently resides in Pune where he continues to write and paint.
